Tues 7th Aug 2007

Unfortunately, Colin Smith and Eric Wood were runners up in the final of the District 5 Pairs competition held at Malton on Saturday 4th Aug. The good form that had carried them through to the final deserted them for this match and although there was a fight back towards the end of the match their opponents (Ben Render and his Mother) ran out comfortable winners. Colin and Eric would like to thank all those who came to offer their support.

Wed 25th July 2007

Great news in the district 5 pairs competition (Eric Gill pairs), where Colin Smith & Eric Wood have reached the 2007 final which will be held at Malton on Sat 4th August. It has been a tough path to the final for the Malton pair with two of their three games been away matches at Stamford Bridge and Snainton and ,in the quarter-final match, been drawn against last years beaten finalists. The semi-final played at Snainton was a very close match all the way through, with the lead changing hands 2 or 3 times, As the last end approached Colin and Eric were ahead by 14 - 12. The last end was a thrilling affair, with the Skips (Colin Smith & Mike Hatfield) having just a wood each left, with the jack touching three woods. Colin sent his last wood, blocking the path to the head. The last wood sent down by the Snainton skip was sent at pace but was wide and with the end being tied Colin and Eric were the winners by 14 pts - 12 pts.

Please remember, the final is at Malton, so come along and support Colin and Eric if you can on the 4th.

Tues 5th June 2007

The annual  JB Motors Triples competition was held at Malton on 2nd & 3rd June, and for both days the competitors were bathed in glorious sunshine. After 2 days of keen competition the eventual winner was a team from Kirkbymoorside, Skippered by Colin Adams.

Photos of the event are available for viewing - Here. A short video of the final is also available - Click Here

The committee would like to thank all those who took part and also everyone at the club who donated their precious time organising the event and serving food and drinks. Thanks to all those who donated raffle prizes also. And last, but by no means least, everyone at Malton Bowls Club would like to Thank JB Motors of Malton for their most generous sponsorship of this event.

See you all again next year for the 2008 JB Motors triples.

Back down to earth with a bump...... losing 7 -1 at Slingsby was not part of the plan. Never mind. The really odd thing about this defeat is that we only lost on the aggregate score by 3 points, so the score could quite easily have been 5 - 3 in our favour. Ahh well, we have a chance to put things back on track on Friday when we are at home to Strensall.

Wed 16th May 2007

The District 5 K/O cup match scheduled for 31st May against Snainton B.C. has been cancelled. We were really struggling to raise 16 players for this game (as indeed were Snainton) and it was felt by the committee that it would be better to withdraw from the competition completely rather than struggle to make a team of 16 for every round.

What a start to a season!...... in the Ryedale Triples league Malton have played 3 games to date and won all 3, amounting to a points total of 23½ pts from a possible 24.... Lets hope that our good form continues. For more details on the results so far check the Fixtures & Tables page link or click here.

Tues 15th May 2007

Well, the season is under way with the first fixtures in both leagues completed. In the 'Veterans league' Malton Vet's began their campaign with a tricky fixture away at Strensall. Never a happy hunting ground for Malton, unfortunately we went down by a score of 6 - 2.

There was happier news in the Ryedale Triples League however, where Malton got the season off to a fantastic start with an impressive 8 - 0 victory at home to Heslerton B.C.
